DJMC hosts session on Multimedia Journalism
Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, Govt. College for Women, M.A. Road, Srinagar hosted an interaction session for students with senior journalist Mr. Suhail Akram at the college conference hall on December 24, 2022.
Mr. Suhail has rich international experience having worked with media organizations like Al-Jazeera and BBC. He is currently working as senior Multimedia Producer with reputed UAE based news organization ‘The National’. Before joining ‘The National’ in 2018, he worked with Aljazeera as a Producer. With BBC, Mr. Suhail worked as a Monitoring Journalist- South Asia for two years. He started his career with Doordarshan Delhi as a correspondent and news presenter for the national bulletin.
Mr. Suhail shared valuable tips with the students to excel as a multimedia journalist. He shared his experience of working on some multimedia features for AJ+ (Al Jazeera plus). He also shared some interesting anecdotes from his professional career while stressing on the need to constantly learn and improve.
Mr. Suhail spoke extensively about the opportunities in contemporary media industry. He listed useful tips for students to get a break in international news organizations. He answered the queries of the inquisitive students in the concluding part of the session.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Ruhi Jan Kanth said such interaction sessions provide opportunity to the students to learn from the experiences of seasoned journalists. She presented a memento to the guest speaker on the occasion as a token of appreciation.
Earlier, Head, Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, Dr. Suhail Ahmad briefed the audience about the work and experience of the guest speaker. Dr. Suhail also referred to the relevance of multimedia journalism with the advances in media technologies and changes in the habits and expectations of media consumers. Ms. Sadaf Bushra presented vote of thanks.
