DJMC organizes Film Fest-2023
The two-day Film Fest organised by Department of Journalism & Mass Communication concluded at Government College for Women, M.A. Road, Srinagar on Saturday (June 17).
The event was organised in collaboration with Film Southasia (FSA) & Hri Institute for Southasian Research and Exchange. Several critically acclaimed documentaries were screened followed by interactive sessions. A workshop and an exhibition was also part of the two-day event.

DJMC organises event on media’s role in combating drug meance
Role of media in the fight against drug menace was highlighted at an event held at Govt. College for Women, M.A. Road, Srinagar on Monday (12 December 2022).
The event was organised by Department of Journalism and Mass Communication in collaboration with the NSS wing of the college as part of the ongoing ‘My College, My Pride’ initiative. Besides students, the event was attended by faculty members of the college.

Batch 2019 shares internship experience
Students of the outgoing (2019) batch of Department of Journalism and Mass Communication shared their internship experiences during a session organized by the department at the college conference hall on June 11, 2022. Clarion call for Intergenerational Bonding
Govt. College for Women, M. A. Road Srinagar organized a workshop on ‘Intergenerational Bonding’ on Thursday (March 24, 2022). The aim of the event was to sensitize youth about the importance of elderly in the society and highlight the various issues faced by the senior citizens.

DJMC holds workshop on Fact Checking with Aljazeera journalist
Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (DJMC), Government College for Women, M. A. Road, Srinagar organised a day-long workshop on ‘Fact Checking’ in collaboration with Google News Initiative (GNI) on September 16, 2022.
GNI certified trainer and noted journalist, Ms. Riffat Mohiddin was the resource person of the workshop which focused on topics related to visual verification. Ms. Riffat has worked with several national and international organizations and is currently multimedia producer with Al-Jazeera.

Editor News DDK interacts with journalism students of GCW M.A. Road
Department of Journalism &Mass Communication (DJMC), Govt. College for Women, M. A. Road, Srinagar held an interaction session with Editor News, Doordarshan Kendra Srinagar, Mr. Shabir Ahmad at the college conference hall on 12th July 2019.

One-month Certificate Course on ‘Short Film-making’ (Nov 19-Dec 20, 2018)
In the run up to the NAAC team visit, the department conducted a one-month Certificate Course on ‘Short Film-making’ with participants drawn from semester 4 of BJMC. Besides the classes on theoretical concepts related to short-film making, the course also involved practical exercises. GCW M. A. Road holds Cycle Race
Govt. College for Women, M. A. Road, Srinagar organised the annual cycle race on 30th April 2019 from Nehru Park to Nishat. Around 33 students participated in the cycle race. The cycle race was flagged off by Principal of the college, Prof. (Dr.) Yasmeen Ashai. Irfana (B.A. 5th semester student) covered the distance of 8 kms in 18.35 minutes to bag the first prize.
