DJMC holds day-long workshop on ‘Beat Reporting’

A day-long workshop on ‘Beat Reporting’ was organized by Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Govt. College for Women Srinagar for the students of Semester 3 and 1 on September 14, 2022.
The resource person for the workshop was noted journalist and Bureau Chief of Kashmir Life news magazine, Mr. Yawar Hussain.
The guest speaker shared his experience and valuable tips for covering various important news reporting beats including politics, administration, education and environment. Government College for Women, M.A. Road, Srinagar hosted an online session with journalist-turned-tech entrepreneur, Mr. Raheel Khursheed as guest speaker on June 17, 2021. The webinar- first of the 2021 series being organized by Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the college- was attended by students and faculty.

DJMC hosts workshop on tools and strategies to verify online content

Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (DJMC), Government College for Women, M. A. Road, Srinagar organised an online workshop on ‘Social Media Audit: Tools and strategies to monitor social media and online content’ on May 29, 2021 (Saturday). Google News Initiative certified trainer, Dr. Archana Kumari was the resource person of the workshop.
Students from semesters 1, 2, 4 and 6 attended the session held via Google Meet. Photojournalist and documentary photographer Sanna Irshad Mattoo interacted with the students of Department of Journalism & Mass Communication (DJMC), Govt. College for Women, M.A. Road, Srinagar on April 12, 2021.
During the interaction session titled ‘Inside and Outside the Frame: Ethics & Aesthetics of Photojournalism’, Sanna shared her experience as a photojournalist. She also shared the story behind some of her acclaimed photo stories.

DJMC hosts multimedia masterclass with senior journalist Riyaz Masroor

Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, Govt. College for Women, M.A. Road, Srinagar held an interaction session with senior journalist Mr. Riyaz Masroor on April 10, 2021 (Saturday).
Mr. Masroor is currently working as J&K correspondent for BBC World Service. In the session titled ‘Multimedia for Beginners’, Mr. Masroor shared valuable tips with the students to excel as a multimedia journalist.
He shared his experience of working on important reporting beats including politics. Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, Govt. College for Women, M.A. Road, Srinagar held an interaction session with journalist and author, Mr. Shakoor Rather on March 27, 2021.
Shakoor is currently working as Deputy News Editor with India’s leading news agency- Press Trust of India. In the session titled ‘The World of News Agencies’, he shared valuable information about the structure and functioning of wire agencies. The two-day inspection of Govt. College for Women, M. A. Road, Srinagar by a National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) peer team began on Tuesday (June 11, 2019).

Bakshi Stadium Likely to Become International Football Stadium

Government has decided to turn Srinagar’s Bakshi stadium into an International Football Stadium with FIFA norms under National Projects Construction Corporation (NPCC) with the budget of 50 cr., officials said on Friday.
The stadium according to officials will be completed within a year. It will be hosting International Football Premier Leagues and tournaments.

A woman, probably in mid-fifties, was busy washing the clothes under what seems to be a common tap of her colony. Engrossed in her work, the movements of footsteps compelled her to look at this reporter. Without seeking many details, she could sense the purpose of the visit.
