Can Kashmiri apple stand the competition?

The decision to remove 20% import duty on American apples has evoked concern among apple growers in Kashmir.

DJMC short film ‘Ayesha’ bags first prize at Media Festival

Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Government College for Women, M.A. Road, Srinagar bagged the First Prize in the film category for its short film ‘Ayesha’ at the Media Festival organised by Govt. Degree College, Baramulla on September 20, 2023.
Earlier, the film earned rave reviews at the Film Fests held at Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) and GCW M.A. Road in June.

Guest lecture on Science & Technology Reporting

Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Government College for Women, M.A. Road organised a guest lecture on ‘Science & Technology Reporting’ on October 18, 2023. The guest speaker was Mr. Shakoor Rather who is currently working as News Editor and Head Science and Technology at India’s premier news agency Press Trust of India (PTI).

Media internship presentations of batch 2020

Students of the outgoing (2020) batch of Department of Journalism and Mass Communication shared their internship experiences during a session organized by the department at the college conference hall on August 25, 2023. The students did their internship with various leading news organizations and advertising agencies. Some students also shared their freelance work with international news outlets.

Interaction session on Data Journalism

 
Department of Journalism and Mass Communication organised an interaction session with noted Data Journalist, Mr. Vijdan Mohammad Kawoosa on July 4, 2023.
Vijdan is currently working with international wire agency Reuters. He has previously worked with BBC and the Hindustan Times, covering major news events from across the world with data and graphics. DJMC organizes Film Fest-2023

The two-day Film Fest organised by Department of Journalism & Mass Communication concluded at Government College for Women, M.A. Road, Srinagar on Saturday (June 17).
The event was organised in collaboration with Film Southasia (FSA) & Hri Institute for Southasian Research and Exchange. Several critically acclaimed documentaries were screened followed by interactive sessions. A workshop and an exhibition was also part of the two-day event.
