One-month Certificate Course on ‘Short Film-making’ (Nov 19-Dec 20, 2018)

In the run up to the NAAC team visit, the department conducted a one-month Certificate Course on ‘Short Film-making’ with participants drawn from semester 4 of BJMC. Besides the classes on theoretical concepts related to short-film making, the course also involved practical exercises. Workshop on ‘Audio-Video Editing’ (May 10-11, 2019)

A two-day workshop on ‘Audio-Video Editing’ for students of semester 5 (BMMMC) was held with the support of Media Education Research Centre (MERC), Kashmir University on May 10-11, 2019. Mr. Imran Latief (AV Editor, MERC) was the resource person for the workshop which was held at the varsity’s studio. On the first day, technical sessions were held on important aspects of radio production including packaging and sound editing. Symposium on ‘Reclaiming the Progressive Iqbal’

A symposium on Sir Muhammad Iqbal titled ‘In Search of Lost Voice: Reclaiming the Progressive Iqbal’ was held at GCW M. A. Road, Srinagar on May 9, 2019. The event was organised by Department of Philosophy of the college.
Speaking on the sub-theme titled ‘Dr. Muhammad Iqbal between History and Memory’, Principal of the college, Prof. (Dr.) Yasmeen Ashai pointed out the need to understand the essence of Iqbal’s work and philosophy.

A TALK WITH HOME BAKERS

Women’s Studies Center of Government College for Women, M. A. Road, Srinagar organised a talk with Ms. Sana Imtiyaz and Ms. Sheema Shah, entrepreneurs of ‘Sweet Temptations’ and ‘Sugar Rush’- home bakery shops on May 01, 2019.

Dr.Khuroo shares his eventful journey at the event hosted by GCW M A Road

Noted gastroentrologist of the valley, Prof. (Dr.) M S Khuroo delivered a special lecture at Govt College for Women, M.A. Road, Srinagar on April 24, 2019.
Dr.Khuroo shared his expeirence and valuable insights in the lecture titled as ‘My Journey Through Reserch in Medicine: The Untold Stories”.
The lecture was attended by students and faculty of the college.
Earlier welcoming the guest, Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Yasmeen Ashai hailed the contributions of Dr.Khuroo in medical research.

GCW M. A. Road holds Cycle Race


Govt. College for Women, M. A. Road, Srinagar organised the annual cycle race on 30th April 2019 from Nehru Park to Nishat. Around 33 students participated in the cycle race. The cycle race was flagged off by Principal of the college, Prof. (Dr.) Yasmeen Ashai. Irfana (B.A. 5th semester student) covered the distance of 8 kms in 18.35 minutes to bag the first prize. Just few seconds behind was Hadia of B.A. second semester who bagged the second prize.

Guest lecture on the theme of punctuality

As part of the Punctuality Week observance, Govt. College for Women, M. A. Road Srinagar hosted a guest lecture by noted columnist and Producer EMMRC, Kashmir University, Mr. Aijaz-ul-Haque at the college auditorium on April 3, 2019 (Wednesday).
The lecture was attended by students of Ist, 3rd, 4th and 5th semester of the college. Principal, Govt. College for Women, Prof. (Dr.) Yasmeen Ashai and faculty of the college was present on the occasion.

Tug-of-War tourney begins at GCW M. A. Road

The inter-group Tug-of-War tournament began at Govt. College for Women, M. A. Road Srinagar on May 4, 2019.
The event was inaugurated by Convener College Sports Committee at the college playground. In the opening match, Green defeated Yellow 2-0 while in the second match Red defeated Lemon 3-0. In the third match Maroon defeated Orange 2-0. The event was organised by Physical Education Department of the college. The final match will be played on Monday.
