6-day workshop on ‘Short Film-making’ at DJMC

Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Government College for Women, M.A. Road, Srinagar organised a week-long workshop on ‘Short Film-making’ from June 1 to June 7, 2023. Noted cinematographer and editor, Mr. Muhammad Younis Zargar was the resource person for the workshop.
As an outcome-based workshop, a short film on the theme of Art Therapy as a coping strategy for drug addiction and depression was made. Interaction session with senior journalist Danish Manzoor

Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Govt. College for Women, M.A. Road organised an interaction session with noted journalist, Danish Manzoor on May 15, 2023.
Danish works with premier international news magazine Newsweek as Editorial Director (Asia). An alumnus of IIM-Ahmedabad and the Journalism Departments of Osmania and Kashmir University, he comes with a rich experience, working across different mediums
including print, broadcast and digital journalism.

DJMC hosts session on Multimedia Journalism

Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, Govt. College for Women, M.A. Road, Srinagar hosted an interaction session for students with senior journalist Mr. Suhail Akram at the college conference hall on December 24, 2022.
Mr. Suhail has rich international experience having worked with media organizations like Al-Jazeera and BBC. He is currently working as senior Multimedia Producer with reputed UAE based news organization ‘The National’. DJMC organises event on media’s role in combating drug meance

Role of media in the fight against drug menace was highlighted at an event held at Govt. College for Women, M.A. Road, Srinagar on Monday (12 December 2022).

Award-winning filmmaker shares valuable tips on documentary making

Department of Journalism and Mass Communication organised a day-long interaction session with award-winning documentary filmmaker, Mr. Jalaluddin Baba on 12th October 2021. Mr. Baba shared his vast experience and valuable tips in documentary film-making and video editing techniques. Clips from his award-winning films were also played on the occasion to help students understand the art of filmmaking. Guest lecture on camera and lighting techniques

Department of Journalism and Mass Communication organised a guest lecture with Mr Faisal Bhat, Cinematographer and Editor on 1st October 2021. Mr. Faisal has worked with various reputed national and international organisations including BBC and Al Jazeera. He interacted with 5th Semester (batch 2019) students on  various camera and lighting techniques. DJMC holds workshop on Fact Checking with Aljazeera journalist

Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (DJMC), Government College for Women, M. A. Road, Srinagar organised a day-long workshop on ‘Fact Checking’ in collaboration with Google News Initiative (GNI) on September 16, 2022.
GNI certified trainer and noted journalist, Ms. Riffat Mohiddin was the resource person of the workshop which focused on topics related to visual verification. Ms. Riffat has worked with several national and international organizations and is currently multimedia producer with Al-Jazeera.
